Irish Lures Ltd. was established by Celine Moorkens in 2011 to continue manufacturing the Super 'C' Lure, which has remained as the best-selling flying c Lure in Ireland since the 1980's.
The Moorkens family has a long history in the fishing tackle business in Ireland.
Joss Moorkens moved from Belgium to Ireland in the 1920's, to pursue his love for game fishing. He married Evelyn Boyd, a young lady from Longford. Their children, Gustave, Jozef and Maria, were avid anglers, who spent many hours fishing with their father - mainly on the Liffey. Joss made his own fishing tackle, especially fishing baits. His favourite was an imitation minnow lure, with a rubber body made from the inner tubing from a bicycle wheel. He found that the rubber created a vibration and movement in the water, similar to a struggling minnow. This was his 'Secret Weapon', he and his family spent many days catching with this amazing lure .
Gustave opened a retail fishing tackle shop in Abbey Street, Dublin, where he, Jozef and Maria worked together, offering advice, repairs and friendly banter with their clients.
Jozef decided to open his own fishing tackle shop in Exchange Street, Dublin. He later moved his business to the old cinema premises in Blackrock, South County Dublin, where he ran a retail shop, assembled rods for the Irish market and distributed the Shakespeare brand.
Jozef and Tom Dunne developed the Super 'C' in the 1980s. Jozef insisted on using 100% Natural Rubber for the Body, as his father's rubber minnows had already proven this material the most effective for quality, longevity and action.
The Super 'C' Lure is the best-selling Salmon Lure in Ireland.
